The ruling party "Georgian Dream" adopted in the third reading the legislative package on depriving President Salome Zurabishvili of state protection. It is noted that Zurabishvili will be deprived of the right to state protection at the end of his term, aliq.ge reports.
85 deputies of the ruling party voted in favor of the draft law.
To remind, the draft law was initiated by the representatives of "Georgian Dream" in the parliament a few days ago. if the law is adopted, the president, as well as the prime minister and the speaker of the parliament, after the termination of their powers, will no longer have personal protection, if the Constitutional Court, according to Article 48 of the constitution, confirms the presence of signs of a crime.
It should also be noted that last year the Constitutional Court confirmed that President Salome Zurabishvili violated the Constitution.
"Georgian Dream" will hold presidential elections on December 14, the inauguration of the president of the ruling power is before the New Year, on December 29.
