The UN Secretary General called on Israel to stop attacks on Syria

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres is concerned about the airstrikes carried out by Israel on Syria and calls for them to stop, UN Secretary General Stephane Dujarric said in a briefing.

"The Secretary General is deeply concerned about the recent large-scale violations of Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Secretary General is particularly concerned about the hundreds of airstrikes carried out by Israel in several parts of Syria," said Dujarric. According to the spokesperson, Guterres emphasizes the urgent need to de-escalate violence "on all fronts, throughout the country." Referring to Israel's arguments that Syria is being attacked so that the weapons of the former regime do not fall into the wrong hands, Dujarric said that many countries give excuses for violating the sovereignty of others.

"It is clear that we are concerned about the periodic violations of Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity. At this time, Syria needs the support of its neighbors to move towards a form of government that is inclusive, democratic and protects the rights of minorities. In addition, it is imperative that the people in control of Syria ensure that all weapons and everything come under control and not be looted or disappear," said the UN Secretary General's spokesperson.

He also noted that the UN Secretary General's message to Israel and other countries is that they can use the opportunity to immediately stop the attacks on Syria.
