On the initiative of the Minister of Foreign Economic Relations and Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Peter Szijártó, a telephone conversation was held with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov.
The achieved level of the Russian-Hungarian political dialogue was highly appreciated. It was emphasized that bilateral cooperation, despite the extremely difficult international situation, continues to develop in the spirit of healthy pragmatism and mutual benefit.
There was an exchange of views on current issues, including the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
"Szijjártó noted that Hungary's offer to establish a temporary ceasefire and a large-scale exchange of prisoners was rejected by Volodymyr Zelensky, which Budapest officials were informed about," said the message published on the website of the Russian diplomatic service.
Lavrov noted that this is not the first time that Kiev rejects humanitarian initiatives, including the proposals of Budapest and Ankara.
"The Russian side confirmed the vision of a realistic way to end the conflict, which was set forth in the speech of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, on June 14," said the statement of the Foreign Ministry.
