Trump asked to appoint his daughter-in-law as a senator from Florida, media reported

Donald Trump, who won the US presidential election, is asking Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to nominate his daughter-in-law Lara Trump as a senator from Florida instead of current senator and candidate for Secretary of State Mark Rubio, Fox News reported, citing an unnamed source.

Earlier, Trump's daughter-in-law Lara said she was considering taking a seat in the Senate. She made this statement in an interview with the Associated Press, commenting on the possibility of replacing Rubio in the Senate if he is appointed to the post of Secretary of State. On Sunday, Lara Trump also announced on social media X that she plans to announce her resignation as co-chair of the Republican National Committee at the next meeting.

“Trump is demanding Desantis name Lara Trump to replace Florida Senator Mark Rubio,” a source in Trump’s political circle told the TV channel.
