Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze did not rule out that the authorities may apply to the Constitutional Court (SC) to declare opposition political parties illegal.
"They (according to TASS) have openly expressed their opposition to the constitutional system of Georgia, which creates a direct basis for applying to the Constitutional Court and recognizing the opposition parties as unconstitutional. Let's see and wait how the processes will develop," Kobakhidze said at the government meeting.
As the head of the Georgian cabinet explained, the opposition refers to the "United National Movement" party of former Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili, the "For Changes" and "Strong Georgia" coalitions, and the party of former prime minister Giorgi Gakharia.
