The head of European diplomacy, Kaya Callas, and the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Martha Kos, announced in a joint communique that the actions of the Georgian authorities to stop the riots will have negative consequences on relations with the European Union.
"The Georgian people once again took to the streets to reaffirm their desire to join the European Union. "The EU strongly condemns the violence against peaceful protesters who are resolutely defending their European and democratic future. These actions of the Georgian government will have direct consequences for our relations," the document emphasizes.
The officials reminded that the European Union stopped the process of accepting Georgia into the community, as well as the financial support.
