Georgian Ambassador to the United States David Zalkaliani resigned after the Georgian authorities decided to suspend consideration of the issue of starting negotiations on accession to the European Union, the Georgian opposition television company Formula reports, citing a source in the country's Foreign Ministry. “According to Formula’s source in the Foreign Ministry, Georgian Ambassador to the United States David Zalkaliani resigned,” the report says.

According to the television company, Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia Teimuraz Janjalia is also leaving his position.
