For the first time in the history of the country's armed forces, the command of the Israel Defense Forces approved the participation of female soldiers in a combat operation in Lebanon. This was reported by The Jerusalem Post newspaper.
In particular, a few days before the truce, a group of women soldiers from the 595th reconnaissance battalion was stationed in southern Lebanon in the Shab'a Farms region near the border with Syria. Their tasks included collecting intelligence, identifying targets, and directing artillery and air fire near a Lebanese village where units of the Shiite Hezbollah movement were operating.
On the morning of November 27, the agreement on the first truce between Israel and Lebanon since the outbreak of hostilities in October 2023 came into force. US President Joe Biden announced that agreements between the Jewish state and Hezbollah provide for the restoration of control over the territory of the republic by the Lebanese army and state security forces within 60 days. After this, the Israeli army will gradually withdraw from Lebanon.
