Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel (who served from 2005-2021) has said she misses some politicians, including French President Emmanuel Macron.
"I don't miss being a politician. I've been chancellor for 16 years, and that's more than enough. But what I really miss is meeting certain people, including President Macron," he told Le Point. in an interview with the magazine.
Speaking about former and future US President Donald Trump, Merkel said that his approach is "often contradictory". The former chancellor recalls that he had to "make a lot of effort to protect Germany's interests" and that working with Trump "was often stressful."
