The White House has confirmed that Biden will attend Trump's inauguration

The White House has confirmed that the current US President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill Biden, will attend the inauguration of the newly elected head of Washington, Donald Trump, on January 20.

"The President has promised that he will attend the inauguration, regardless of who wins the election, he and the First Lady will honor that promise and attend the inauguration," White House Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates said at a press briefing on the presidential plane.

He added that Biden considers participating in Trump's inauguration as a manifestation of commitment to democratic values, and also emphasized that the current administration will continue to facilitate the orderly and effective transition of power.
