The US and Japan are developing an action plan in the territory of Taiwan. Kyodo:

The armed forces of the United States and Japan intend to develop a joint action plan in December in the event of a military crisis in Taiwan, which will include, in particular, the deployment of American missile forces in the neighboring Philippines and in the southwest of the Japanese islands sources.

The agency emphasizes that in the event of a crisis in Taiwan, that entire vast area will turn into a theater of war.

According to the sources, separate units of the US Marine Corps, equipped in particular with HIMARS multiple missile systems, will be widely deployed on the islands of Kagoshima Prefecture in Japan and in the southwest of Okinawa Prefecture .

American missile units, space communication and guidance, cyber and electronic warfare groups will be deployed in parallel in the north of the Philippines. Since April, Typhon ground mobile installations have been deployed there, which can launch Tomahawk long-range cruise missiles and SM-6 multi-purpose missiles. They can be used to hit targets on land, as well as to destroy air targets, including ballistic ones.

In February 2023, Washington and Manila agreed to give the US Armed Forces control of four more bases in the country. Such a network of facilities will be supplemented by the deployment of US Navy aircraft carriers in the region. All this is meant to provide the American-Japanese group with superiority of forces at sea and in the air, claims Kyodo.
