A protest has started in Tbilisi against the adoption of the final minutes of the elections

A protest action has started in front of the building of the Central Election Commission of Georgia (CEC), which on November 16 has to accept the summary protocol of the parliamentary elections to be held in October. This is reported by the Georgian mass media.

According to publications, representatives of the opposition and activists came to a demonstration in Tbilisi, however, people could not approach the building of the government department, because its territory is surrounded by a fence.

It is noted that dozens of law enforcement officers are now at the scene. At the same time, several police cars blocked the entrance to the territory of the Central Election Commission of Georgia.

After the electoral commission accepts the final electoral protocol, the new parliament will be able to start work. It will happen within 10 days.

The elections of the highest legislative body of Georgia took place on October 26. According to the voting results, the ruling "Georgian Dream" party won with 54.3 percent of the votes, but a number of opposition political associations did not accept the election results, and members of the "For Changes" coalition even gave up their parliamentary mandates.

Moreover, the president of the republic, Salome Zurabishvili, did not agree with the voting results. He called on the citizens to organize protests against the start of the work of the new parliament.
