According to EU High Commissioner for Foreign Policy and Security Joseph Borrell, Georgia needs serious changes to be considered a candidate for EU membership again.
According to Aliq.ge, Borel expressed this point of view in an interview with "Europeiskaya Pravda" media during his visit to Kyiv. He said that he does not see any similarity between Georgia and Ukraine.
"The president and the government of Ukraine are fully involved in joining the European Union, and so is the Ukrainian society. There is no doubt that the country wants to become a member of the European Union. This is not the case with Georgia. We told the Georgian government that they are leaving the European path, and if they want to become a member of the European Union, they should change the approved law (referring to the "Transparency of Foreign Influence" law), solve the problems revealed in the elections and return to the path of European integration. . They need serious changes in order to be considered a candidate for the European Union," Borel said.
