The opposition is holding another protest in Tbilisi against the results of the parliamentary elections. Today's rally is organized by Unity - National Movement, Coalition for Change and Strong Georgia. The participants started from the Marjanishvili and State University metro stations. The situation is calm, no incidents occurred, reports the Novosti-Georgia agency.
Protesters will march through the streets of Tbilisi under the slogan “No to Russian elections.” “Naturally, the protest will be long-lasting. We must constantly show the government, as well as our foreign friends, that a pro-European choice lives in Georgia,” said one of the leaders of the Strong Georgia coalition, Anna Dolidze.
In parallel with Tbilisi, Georgian emigrants are protesting abroad against the election results. Under the slogan “No to the Russian regime” they are going out today in Berlin, Warsaw, Paris, Athens and Vienna. The main demand of the emigrants is non-recognition of the election results. They also demand the resignation of the chairman of the Central Election Commission of Georgia and the prosecution of those involved in possible fraud on voting day. Today at 19:00 a rally demanding new elections was also announced by the Girchi party.
It failed to overcome the electoral threshold and has so far refused to cooperate with other opposition parties. Now Girchi invites all politicians who disagree with the results to follow their plan.
