"Zhoghovurd" daily writes: "The passions in the faction became particularly hot after the incident that took place in the NA session hall yesterday, in which the faction's deputy Edgar Ghazaryan was at the center. At the end of his speech from the NA podium yesterday, Ghazaryan used offensive language and then left the session hall.
After that, the situation in the parliament became tense, and the deputies of his faction also reacted to the incident. Immediately after Ghazaryan left the hall, CP deputy Vahe Ghalumyan also came out behind him and tried to clarify the situation with Ghazaryan, after which the incident turned into serious tension, and at some moments, into a tug of war and a fight. Obviously, Vahe Ghalumyan had the most active role during the incident.
After the incident, Narek Karapetyan, the leader of the "Strong Armenia" faction, according to "Zhoghovurd" sources, had a serious conversation with Edgar Ghazaryan and other representatives of the faction. Karapetyan urged to observe the rules established in the parliament and not to take such actions that could become a reason for new tension. However, the story did not end there. After some time, Edgar Ghazaryan, without informing the members of the faction, took his bag and left the building of the National Assembly. At the moment, there is no final decision regarding Ghazaryan in the "Strong Armenia" faction.
According to the information of "Zhoghovurd" daily, the faction should meet today to discuss the created situation. Opinions within the group differ. One part believes that Ghazaryan should apologize for what happened and keep his position in the faction. The others have a more rigid position and think that the deputy should already give up his mandate, because situations of tension and disagreements regularly arise around him recently.
The final decision will probably depend on the position of the leader of the faction, Narek Karapetyan. At the moment, however, Karapetyan has not yet made a final decision. At the same time, there are other important issues on the agenda of the "Strong Armenia" faction. Discussions continue on the candidacies of the two standing committees of the National Assembly: European integration issues, as well as the standing committees for territorial management and infrastructure issues. Several names have been circulated at different stages, including Arega Hovsepyan, Davit Ghazinyan and Mamikon Aslanyan.
However, at the moment there is no final decision yet, and the faction should discuss and approve its nominations for these positions in the near future. By the way, according to "Zhoghovurd", the CP intends not to choose the candidacy of Hayk Farmanyan, who was nominated by "Strong Armenia" for the position of the chairman of the Standing Committee on Financial Credit and Budgetary Issues. In that case, "Strong Armenia" will have to discuss again and nominate a new candidate.
Thus, shortly after the start of the work of the new parliament, several issues have accumulated in the "Strong Armenia" faction at once, from internal discipline and the situation created around Edgar Ghazaryan to the issue of nominations for the presidents of standing committees.
