The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, is discussing the issue of dismissing the commander-in-chief of the country's armed forces, Alexander Sirsky. This is reported by the Financial Times.
According to the publication, Zelensky can make a decision on such a move if he finds a commander who will ensure a smooth transfer of power and maintain defense in the 1,200 km long section of the military front.
To remind, in recent days, protest actions were held in Ukraine, the participants of which demanded the resignation of Sirsky. One of the reasons for the demonstrations was the dismissal of Defense Minister Mikhail Fedorov. The protestors considered him a supporter of the modernization of the army and demanded a review of that decision.
Demonstrations were held in Kiev and other cities, and some participants criticized Sirsky's style of government and the approaches of the army leadership.
According to the Financial Times, it was public dissatisfaction that made Zelensky discuss the option of changing the commander-in-chief.
