Israeli leaders believe that upcoming talks with Lebanese government officials in the United States will "most likely" lead to a comprehensive cease-fire agreement.
This was reported by the state Kan TV channel, referring to Israeli government sources. A meeting of three Israeli military officials with Lebanese military officials is expected at the Pentagon on May 29.
After the third round of Lebanese-Israeli talks held in Washington on May 14-15, a 45-day extension of the April 16 ceasefire agreement was announced to ensure further progress. After the military negotiations, the political dialogue will most likely resume on June 2-3.
