"The fight against the Armenian Apostolic Church will destroy the legitimacy of any government". "Fact"

"Fact" daily writes:

Against the background of discussions about the pre-election processes and plans of political forces, Arman Vardanyan, head of the "Unity" movement, spoke to the "Past" newspaper about the pre-election program of the "Civil Contract" party, drawing special attention to the provisions related to the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church. According to him, the focus of attention in Armenia today is mainly pre-election promises, political slogans and loud statements of various forces.

However, as he noted, in the background of all this, the public hardly discusses one of the most dangerous points of the CPC pre-election program, which refers to the so-called "reform" of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church, interference in the internal life of the Church, and the change in church management. "I, as well as many politically literate people and our sympathizers, have always considered and continue to consider this approach extremely dangerous for the preservation of Armenian identity and Armenian statehood." "The question is about the principles and approaches by which the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church has lived for centuries, and which the CP is trying to change today," he said.

According to Arman Vardanyan, it is about the attempt to interfere with the spiritual, moral and national foundations on which the Armenian identity has been preserved for centuries. He reminded that for centuries it was the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church that preserved the Armenian language, culture, historical memory and national unity in those times when Armenian statehood was threatened or did not exist at all. "Therefore, the struggle today is not for individuals, but for spiritual, moral and national principles," emphasized the leader of the "Unity" movement.

Referring to the elections, Arman Vardanyan noted that any voter who casts his vote for the "Civil Agreement" party should understand that by doing so, he actually agrees to the attempt to implement all points of the party's pre-election program.

At the same time, he expressed his belief that the vast majority of voters do not study the pre-election programs of the parties point by point. According to him, people mostly hear and recognize only those topics that are actively advertised: social reforms, health reforms, talks about the peace treaty and the so-called "European integration". In a conversation with "Past" newspaper, Arman Vardanyan also emphasized that for this reason, attempts to present the possible results of the elections as a "mandate" of the people to interfere in the internal and spiritual life of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church are not legitimate.

"And regardless of the results of the elections, regardless of which political force will come to power, interference in the internal and spiritual life of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church has always been, remains and will remain illegitimate," he said. Arman Vardanyan added that any struggle against the independence of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church is illegitimate and will remain so.

The details are in today's issue of "Past" daily newspaper
