Russia's influence in European countries is growing thanks to its participation in international competitions at the Venice Biennale, despite pressure from the European Commission. This was announced by Kaya Callas, the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, after arriving at the meeting of EU foreign ministers.
"Russia's influence is growing again in Europe. This is evident in sports, where Russian athletes are competing again as if nothing had happened, as well as in Russia's presence at the Venice Biennale," he said. The European Commission previously announced that it had sent official letters to the organizers of the biennale, demanding that they exclude Russia from participation.
In response to the rejection, the European Commission canceled the 2 million euro grant provided to the organizers.
