"The annual report of the activities of the RA Prosecutor's Office and the Investigative Committee was included in the agenda of the regular sessions of the National Assembly to be started today. The report on the activities of the RA Prosecutor's Office will be discussed. general crime decreased, but a number of serious and public concern crimes recorded a significant increase. According to the report, 40 thousand 722 crimes were registered in Armenia in 2025, which is 3.2 percent less than last year.
A decrease was also recorded in cases of hooliganism. if last year there were 877 cases, this year that number was 777. However, against the background of the overall decrease, the sharp increase in illegal drug trafficking is particularly worrying. The number of cases reached 4,595, increasing by 685 or 19.7 percent within a year. The situation is most pronounced in Yerevan, where 2,467 cases were recorded, with an increase of 38.1 percent. Crimes committed for the purpose of selling narcotics also increased. The number of such cases reached 2426, of which 1536 were registered in the capital. Only in Yerevan this index increased by 30.5 percent.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, the volumes of seized drugs have also increased. Seizures of substances of natural origin increased by about 43 percent, and volumes of synthetic drugs increased more than five times. These data indicate not only the expansion of circulation, but also the structural changes of the market. An alarming increase was also recorded in the field of crimes against a person's life. The number of attempted murders reached 78, increasing by 21.9 percent compared to the previous year. There is a sharper increase in cases of preparation for murder. if only 2 cases were registered in the previous reporting period, now that number has become 12.
At the same time, the report states that the law enforcement agencies managed to prevent 10 such crimes while still in the preparation stage, which indicates the certain effectiveness of preventive work. Crimes committed with the use of firearms also increased. If last year 116 cases were registered, this year that number has reached 140. Thus, the picture presented by the prosecutor's office definitely does not give rise to an assessment.
On the one hand, the general level of crime has somewhat decreased, on the other hand, especially those types of crimes that are directly related to public safety and the protection of citizens' lives have increased.
The expansion of drug circulation and the increase of serious crimes prove that serious changes are taking place in the structure of crime, which may become one of the key topics of parliamentary discussions in the near future.
