"Fact" daily writes: Yesterday in Moscow, near the building of the Armenian Embassy, the action "We are with Etchmiadzin" took place, in which hundreds of representatives of the Armenian community participated. People came with national flags and banners, chanting slogans of unity, solidarity and support for the Armenian Apostolic Church.
The participants stressed that the Armenian Apostolic Church continues to be a spiritual pillar and a symbol of national identity for more than 1,700 years. In the speeches, the idea that it was the Church that helped the people to overcome wars, trials and tragedies, including the Genocide, was heard, and today it has once again appeared in the center of public attention.
Those gathered expressed their displeasure with the arrests and detentions of clergymen and public figures, among them Reverends Mikael Adjapahyan, Arshak Khachatryan, Mkrtich Proshyan, Bagrat Galstanyan, as well as philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
Among the demands of the participants of the rally are the release of those arrested, the cessation of pressure on the parishioners, the refusal of political persecution and the provision of transparent conditions for future elections. One of the key speakers of the action was public figure Mika Badalyan. In his speech, he noted: "Our signature collection initiative aimed at supporting the Catholicos and the Armenian Apostolic Church has collected more than 100,000 signatures in two and a half weeks. This shows that society is actively expressing its position."
He emphasized that the signature collection is being carried out on the website Armspyurk.com, where an increase in the number of petition participants is recorded every day.
Among the speakers were representatives of the clergy, including Levon Mukanyan from the Armenian Diocese of Russia and New Nakhichevan and Father Gevorg Vardanyan.
They talked about the significance of Etchmiadzin as a spiritual center and a symbol of the unification of the Armenian people. The organizers emphasized that the Moscow action is part of a wider campaign aimed at mobilizing the Diaspora and drawing attention to the situation created around the Armenian Apostolic Church. The collection of signatures continues, and similar events, according to them, will be continuous.
