The General Secretary of the HRD presented the experience of the RA HRD in armed conflicts to the international partners


From October 27 to 31, Nina Pirumyan, Secretary General of the Office of the RA Human Rights Defender, participated in the General Assembly of the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions, as well as the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions, entitled "The Role and Functions of National Human Rights Institutions Operating in Armed Conflicts" at the conference.

HRD informs that the 2024 activity report of the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions, the election of members of the governing board, as well as the 2025 action plan were discussed within the framework of the general assembly.

At the international conference, the specifics, challenges and experience of the national human rights institutions operating in war and post-war conditions were discussed.
Nina Pirumyan presented the experience of the human rights defender institution of Armenia to the colleagues who are members of the European network of national human rights institutes, referring to the work of protection and monitoring of the rights of forcibly displaced persons, the challenges faced by the institution while carrying out its activities in war and post-war conditions.

In particular, a separate reference was made to the importance of fact-finding work, the specifics of work with the forcibly displaced population, the taking of steps aimed at the collection of reliable information, the efforts of the staff and the development of capacities.

During the conference, the importance of trainings aimed at the psychological readiness of the staff of the institutions, as well as the use of manuals and guidelines on fact-finding work, was highlighted.

In her speech, Nina Pirumyan emphasized the importance of preserving the independence and impartiality of national human rights institutions, especially when recording human rights violations in armed conflicts.
At the end of the conference, taking into account the advanced experience of the Institute of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, an agreement was reached with a number of partners of the European alliance on the exchange of further experience and cooperation.
