The DPRK will strengthen its friendship and ties with China. This was stated in a telegram from the leader of the country, Kim Jong-un, to the President of China, Xi Jinping, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.

Kim Jong Un thanked his Chinese counterpart for congratulating him on his re-election as General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPC) at the 9th WPC Congress. "The further strengthening and development of the traditional Korean-Chinese friendship in accordance with the requirements of the new era and the aspirations of the peoples of both countries is the unshakable position of our party and government.

I hope that the cooperation between the two parties and the two countries, the DPRK and the People's Republic of China, will become closer as we advance the common socialist cause," the cable said.
