The Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Ali Larijani, said during his visit to Moscow that Tehran may agree to transfer enriched uranium to the Russian Federation, reports The New York Times, citing unnamed Iranian officials.
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday that Russia has offered transportation services for surplus enriched uranium from Iran as a possible option that would remove obstacles for a number of countries.
"In recent days, Larijani met with Russian President Vladimir Putin, with a message from Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, according to which Iran may agree to transfer its enriched uranium to Russia," the message states.
