Russia expects restraint in the situation around Iran. Peskov

In the situation created around Iran, Russia would like to expect restraint and orientation towards a peaceful settlement from all parties, stated the press secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov.

"Russia continues to make efforts to help de-escalate tensions. And, of course, in this case, we would like to expect restraint from all interested parties and an approach based exclusively on peaceful negotiations for the settlement of the problems that currently seem urgent," Peskov told reporters, commenting on the situation around Iran.

US President Donald Trump announced on January 22 that the ships of the US Navy "in any case" are moving in the direction of Iran. Before that, he could not give a clear answer to the question whether the option of military intervention against Iran is off the agenda, stating only that he cannot say what will happen in the future.
