Starmer. Britain will move closer to the EU because of uncertain US policy

The British government will work on cooperation with the European Union on security and defense issues, taking into account the uncertain policy of the administration of the US President Donald Trump. Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Keir Starmer stated this in an interview with Channel 4.

"Europe should do more. We need to take a stronger position in security matters. And the problem is not only military capabilities and coordination. we are talking about broader topics: cyber security, trade, energy.

This confirms my view that Britain should be closer to Europe. We are conducting urgent negotiations on how to strengthen cooperation in the fields of defense, security and intelligence between Britain and the EU," he said.

The referendum on Britain's exit from the EU took place on June 23, 2016. 51.9% of the population voted in favor of abandoning EU membership, 48.1% against. Several years after the events, the country left the union on the night of February 1, 2020.
