"Zhoghovurd" daily writes:
"Ahead of the national elections, active negotiations and rearrangements are underway in the political field. According to the information received by "Zhoghovurd" daily newspaper, the "Armenia" alliance from the parliamentary opposition field has almost a final decision regarding the format of participation in the upcoming elections. The list will simply be "abdate", they will try to attract active young people, sending the elderly to a well-earned rest. Kristine Vardanyan, member of the Hayastan faction, ARF member, told "Zhoghovurd" that at the moment, they do not consider changing the composition of the faction or the list a priority. "I cannot give details because there is no concreteness. We have announced that we are at the stage of negotiations.
First of all, the format of the alliance should be finalized, and all issues related to the platform will eventually be published," said Vardanyan. Deputy of the same faction Agnesa Khamoyan also mentioned that there are no discussions regarding the list and format yet. "Zhoghovurd" daily has also learned that the party led by the third president of RA, Serzh Sargsyan, RPA, is not very inclined to participate in the elections this time. As for who will be supported in case of non-participation, we asked this question to RPA Vice President Armen Ashotyan. "On January 16, the session of the Executive Body of the Republican Party of Armenia was held, and the corresponding press statement was published. We discussed the issue of the party's participation. Different opinions were voiced. A decision has not been made yet. Discussions will continue," said Ashotyan. In the extra-parliamentary field, active negotiations are also underway between various political forces and individuals.
According to the information received by "Zhoghovurd" daily, "Aprelu Yerkir" party, "Prosperous Armenia" party, "Mother Armenia" alliance leader Andranik Tevanyan and "Homeland" party chairman Artur Vanetsyan may go to the elections with a united front. In any case, such negotiations are being talked about in the political field. Artur Vanetsyan refused to give details on this occasion. Babken Harutyunyan, a member of the "Homeland" party, told us the following: "I cannot provide specific information about the parties you mentioned.
There are contacts with various opposition parties, exchanges of ideas, but nothing more. At the moment, we have decided to participate in the elections independently, but we do not rule out the option of forming an alliance. We also did not hide that the candidate for the prime minister of our party is the chairman of the party, Artur Vanetsyan. Andranik Tevanyan, the leader of the "Mother Armenia" bloc, sharply denied the rumors. It should be noted that "Mother Armenia" recently registered tangible successes in local elections. Mesrop Arakelyan, co-founder of the "Land of Living" party, also denied the rumors.
"There is no such thing. It is completely wrong information," he said, while not clarifying in what format they are going to participate in the elections. There are reports that negotiations are underway between the "Wings of Unity" movement, the "Hayakve" national-civic association, Abraham Gasparyan and Ruben Mkhitaryan in order to jointly participate in the elections. "We regularly have meetings and discussions with all representatives of the political field. If there are news or results, we will definitely publish them," said Abraham Gasparyan in a conversation with "Zhoghovurd" daily.
Armen Manvelyan from "Hayakve" conveyed: "We are in a wide negotiation process with many political forces. We still do not have relations with most of the forces you mentioned, there have not even been any meetings, but we are considering them. We may meet at some stage. At the moment, I cannot say anything about the negotiations until they reach, so to speak, a logical end. I think it will be clear at the beginning of February." "Wings of Unity" movement informed that they do not have any public information about the future at the moment.
We could not get a comment from Ruben Mkhitaryan, but it is obvious that his participation can give a new charge to any association. The "Armenian National Congress" (ANC), PAP, "Aprelu Yerkir" party, "Sasna Tsrer", "Njar" force, "Haghtanak" party headed by President Viktor Mnatsakanyan, as well as former mayor Hayk Marutyan are also in active negotiations ahead of the national elections. The "Land of Living" party has already given its general answer. Viktor Mnatsakanyan mentioned that he cannot give information at this moment. Hayk Marutyan also refused to answer our questions.
Gevorg Safaryan from "Sasna Tsrer" conveyed: "At the moment, we have no decision to participate in the national elections. I have no information about the meetings and negotiations you mentioned." Levon Zurabyan, vice-president of the ANC and at the same time the party's candidate for prime minister, denied the circulating rumors, stating that they are completely false. We did not manage to get an answer from PAP either. They are actively promoting the "Offer to Armenia" initiative, which, according to them, has provided broad consolidation. It is known that the "Our way" movement is also active in the opposition political field. Continuous meetings and negotiations are part of the activity.
According to our sources, the "Our way" movement also had negotiations with the "Enlightened Armenia" party and a number of other political forces. Marianna Ghahramanyan, press secretary of the "Our way" movement, told us: "As Narek Karapetyan, the coordinator of the popular movement "Our way" stated, the movement was formed on the basis of a clear vision in order to achieve real and tangible changes in Armenia, which is possible through a new leader who will be able to unite the divided society. We also noted that the movement does not exclude discussions with those forces and individual professionals who will share our ideas and approaches.
However, at this moment we will refrain from detailing the possible discussions. LAP President Edmon Marukyan categorically denied our information, stating that there was no meeting, discussion or negotiation in any format. Nevertheless, the "Our way" movement intends to become a broad association. Let's see how the "consensus minus one" program will turn out, because Nikol Pashinyan obviously has no allies in the political field. The "Republic" party and other western forces have lost in a number of local elections, so it is difficult to predict what the post-election political puzzle of 2026 will look like.
