This is the strongest solar flare since December 8. The information is reported by the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
"Early in the morning, a large flare of M5.1 level was registered on the eastern edge of the sun. This is the strongest outbreak since December 8. The peak of the explosive activity may be on the New Year's day," the report said.
At the same time, it seems that the probability of formation of magnetic storms during the mentioned period is low, despite the possible peak of the flare activity.
