Japan and South Korea have announced sanctions against Russia and the DPRK

The Japanese government has imposed sanctions on Russia for receiving weapons from North Korea and for its ongoing hostilities in Ukraine. Sanctions have been imposed on nine Russian companies, two companies registered in Cyprus and one Russian businessman. As "Armenpress" learns from the Russian service of the BBC, Yoshimasa Hayashi, the Secretary General of the Japanese government, announced this at a press conference held in Tokyo on May 24. He did not specify the names of the companies and the name of the Russian. In addition, Seoul announced the imposition of sanctions against Moscow and Pyongyang. The South Korean sanctions concern seven citizens of the DPRK and two Russian ships. According to the statement of the South Korean Foreign Ministry, the sanctions against the mentioned persons and the Russian ships are related to the supply of materials for Pyongyang's nuclear and missile development and their involvement in the financing of these developments. it also said that sanctioned individuals and entities were involved in transporting ammunition between the DPRK and Russia. Any financial transactions with individuals on the list will require special permission from the South Korean authorities.
