Trump will meet the plane carrying the bodies of American soldiers killed in Syria

US President Donald Trump intends to meet the plane carrying the bodies of US servicemen killed in the shooting in Palmyra, White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt said on Fox News.

"President Trump will travel to Dover Air Force Base to meet with the families of the victims and receive their bodies here at home," Leavitt said.

As the Pentagon reported earlier, two American soldiers and one American translator were killed near the city of Palmyra in the central part of the Syrian province of Homs.

According to the American side, they supported operations against the "Islamic State" terrorist group in the region. US Defense Secretary Pete Hegsett said in X that the attacker was "killed by partner forces".

"Syria" TV station, referring to the source, also reported that as a result of the shootings near Palmyra, one Syrian security officer was killed and three American servicemen were wounded.
