FT. Starmer has forced the MoD to review its defense investment plan

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has asked the Ministry of Defense to review its military investment plan due to financial constraints, and the publication of the document may be delayed until 2026, the Financial Times (FT) reported, citing sources.

According to the publication, military leaders insist on increasing defense spending, but Starmer and Finance Minister Rachel Reeves face serious financial constraints.

Now the military investment plan, which was supposed to be published before Christmas, is unlikely to be ready before the New Year, the publication notes.

According to sources close to the discussions, Starmer is "concerned about some aspects of the plan, particularly those related to cost." They added that "there are differences of opinion" between the Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry of Defense.
