Two Italian mountaineers have died while climbing the Panbar peak in Nepal, the Italian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.
"Since Friday, October 31, two Italian mountaineers, Alessandro Caputo and Stefano Faronato, have been missing while climbing the summit of Panbar in Nepal. Local authorities confirmed their deaths this morning," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
The Italians found themselves in heavy snow at an altitude of 5,000 meters. The height of the peak is 6887 meters.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with Faronato and Caputo, other Italians also disappeared, and the search for them continues. The Consulate General of Italy in Calcutta is monitoring the situation.
