The suspects of the Louvre robbery, who were arrested on the evening of October 29, appeared in a Paris court to be charged, BFMTV reports, referring to the capital's prosecutor's office.
According to the report, there are two arrested. One of them, as reported by Le Parisien, waited outside on a scooter while his accomplices took the booty out of the museum.
On October 19, four criminals entered the Louvre with a crane. After breaking into the Apollo Gallery, they stole a total of nine jewels, one of which, the Empress Eugenie's (Napoleon III's wife) tiara, set with 1,354 diamonds, fell during their escape.
Investigators are leaning toward the theory that the robbery was committed by professionals. The value of the stolen jewelry is estimated at 88 million euros, Paris prosecutor Laure Bacon said.
