The United States has informed NATO allies about troop reductions in Europe

Washington has warned Bucharest and other NATO allies about reducing the number of American troops in Europe, the Romanian Defense Ministry said on its website.

"The Department of National Defense has been informed of the reduction in the number of US forces stationed on NATO's eastern flank as part of the review of the global posture of the US armed forces," the statement said.

Among the units that stop rotating in Europe are the units sent to Romania and stationed at Mihai Kogalnicanu Air Base.

"This decision was expected, as Romania maintains constant contact with its strategic partner, the United States," the ministry noted.
