Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan announced in a Facebook post:
"It was a great honor for me to receive and award the Armenian medal winners of the Paris Summer Olympics Artur Aleksanyan, Artur Davtyan, Malkhas Amoyan, Varazdat Lalayan, because their victories and recorded successes not only make us all proud, but also motivate the young people who are taking their first steps in big sports. Yerevan Municipality attaches great importance to sports and a healthy lifestyle. This is due not only to the reconstruction and overhaul of sports schools, the creation of comfortable conditions for playing sports in the yard, but also the holding of various sports events, in which many athletes, both from Armenia and abroad, participate.
