Economic damage from attacks by the Israeli army on Lebanese territory could exceed $20 billion, the newspaper L'Orient-Le Jour reported this, citing a report by a group of Lebanese experts and economists, the Independent Task Force for Lebanon.
They estimate that Israeli actions are slowing economic activity in most sectors of the economy in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley, which is home to a third of the country's population and workforce. It is noted that about a quarter of Lebanon’s agricultural land and 50 thousand registered enterprises were destroyed and disabled, which is about 60% of their total number in the country. According to the report, the economic damage from the attacks on the Jewish state could exceed $20 billion. Experts predict that in the areas under fire, the proportion of Lebanese living in extreme poverty could double to at least 80%.
