The President of the European Council Antonio Costa has stated that the actions of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are "unacceptable" on the West Bank.
"The humanitarian situation in Gaza is unacceptable," the head of the European Council said in an interview with the Spanish newspaper El País. He added that the EU supports the efforts to resolve the conflict. "Israel and the Palestinian peoples deserve to live together in peace, without violence and terrorism," he added.
"The road is difficult, but now there is a clear hope for peace. What Netanyahu does with Gaza and the West Bank is unbearable, "Costa said.
On August 8, the Israeli Political-Military Cabinet approved Netanyahu's plan to expand the whole city of Gaza and expanding the operation in the Palestinian enclave. On August 20, the Israeli defense forces began operating on the outskirts leading to Gaza.
