Scientists have found that arthritis develops years before the first symptoms

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RH) may begin a few years before the first symptoms appeared. Changes in the early stages of the disease affect immune cells. This conclusion was scientists from the University of California, San Diego. The results of the study were published in the Science Translational Medicine (STM) magazine.

Scientists have kept victimally to the highly risk of sickness for seven years. The blood of the research has already shown antibodies to Cicik Cycli-citrulled peptide (CCP), which is considered to be the main biomass of RH. Scientists have followed how the immune system of these individuals has changed gradually, long before the start of pain, inflammation and swelling begins.

Through advanced technologies, researchers were able to consider the hidden immune reconstruction of the body. Immune cells, including B and T lymphocytes, have begun to attack their own flesh tissues. Even naive T cells (th0 cells), which have not yet met pathogens, have shown changes in genes that show the willingness of autoimmune attack.

The systemic inflammation, which developed throughout the body, was especially remarkable, despite the absence of visible symptoms. These processes were similar to the active stage of rheumatoid arthritis, but occurred in latent form, as a volcano, which is going to erupt slowly by changing its internal structure.

These results operate an opportunity for early diagnosis of the disease.

"Immune signatures and biomarkers found in this study can be the basis for the prevention of rheumatoid arthritis before the damage to the joints. This allows us to move from traditional treatment to preventive approach, maintaining the quality of patients even before the external manifestation of the disease, "said Kevin Dean, one of the leading authors of the study.
