The damage of 15 million drams caused by illegal business activities has been recovered

In 2017, a resident of the city of Yerevan acquired 0.5 ha of production area in the city of Masis, Ararat region, established a closed joint-stock company (hereinafter referred to as the Company) and started vodka production at the end of 2019 without a special permit issued by the Ministry of Economy.


In the period between January and March 2020, as a result of illegal business activities carried out by the Company, a loss of 15 million drams was caused to the state.


On July 24, 2020, a criminal case (proceeding) was initiated under the features of Article 188, Part 3, Clause 1 of the Criminal Code adopted on 18.04.2003 (engaging in illegal business, combined with causing a particularly large amount of damage to the state).


On September 17, 2021, a public criminal prosecution was initiated against the director of the company, according to Article 188, Part 3, Clause 1 of the Criminal Code adopted on 04.18.2003.


The criminal case was sent to court on April 4, 2022.


On October 16, 2024, the accused recovered 15 million drams of damage caused to the state as a result of the crime.


On October 17, 2024, the General Jurisdiction Court of the First Instance of Ararat and Vayots Dzor Marzes made a decision to terminate the proceedings of the criminal case, on the basis of Part 4 of Article 281 of the current Criminal Code (a person is released from criminal liability if he has fully repaid the damages caused by the crime property damage and assessed penalties).
