A natural way of preventing liver cancer has been found

American chemists have found a way to synthesize natural prices, which overwhelm the development of liver cancer, which is one of the most popular and deadly oncological diseases in the world. The work was published in Angewandte Chemie magazine.

Many medications used in clinical practice are based on natural compounds. For example, the willow bark contains the Sali, of which the body produces Salinese analog. However, there are usually enough resources for mass production of such drugs. Therefore, Professor William Cheney's team has developed a complete synthesis method of natural molecules contained in Guava, which have anti-tumor effect.

Scientists have offered a chemical "recipe" that allows these compounds to get a large amount of existing raw materials.

"Now any researcher will be able to reproduce our path and may find it shorter and more efficient. We were the first to pave the road, "said the co-author of the article, graduate student Liam O'Idaid.

The prospects of discoveries are huge. In the United States alone, more than 42,000 liver and bile cancer cases are diagnosed every year, more than 30,000 of whom die. In late stages, the level of survival in five years does not exceed 15%, and the existing chemotherapies cost the healthcare system billions of dollars.

Researchers are currently cooperating with the US National Cancer Institute to test the effectiveness of synthesized molecules to treat other oncological diseases.
