Women have been warned about hidden hazards at night

Women working at night are more prone to menstrual cycle disorders and hormonal system disorders. This conclusion was scientists from the University of Michigan. The results of the study were presented during the Endo 2025 meeting of the endocrinology company in San Francisco.

During the experiment on mice, scientists model a shift work schedule. It was moved to turn one light for six hours every four days. Just a few weeks later, half of the females had irregular menstrual cycles, and tests showed hormonal imbalance and deterioration of ovarians.

The analysis has shown that even the structure of the uterus and ovaries has been violated near the mice with a preserved cycle. All animals were able to pregnant, but the birth rate was low in the experimental group, and births were more often difficult.

"Night light has a negative impact on the internal clock of the body. In some, it immediately leads to hormonal disorders, while others do not. However, in the long run, everyone is at risk of dysfunction and complications of gestation, including a difficult childbirth, "said Alexandra Yuhu, a researcher at the University of Michigan.

In the future, researchers plan to find out how the disruption of the zircut rhythm affects the uterine function during pregnancy. According to scientists, the new data will help doctors warn the patients about the risks of working at night, and employers can develop milder work schedules.
