The Netherlands called on the EU to partially suspend the agreement signed with Israel

The Netherlands called on the trade part of the EU Association Agreement with Israel due to a military operation in the Gaza Strip. Acting Foreign Ministers Kaspar Weldkamp said this after the consultations with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs on Monday.

According to him, the reason for this position was the non-fulfillment of the agreements reached with the European Union on July 7 to ensure access to enclave humanitarian aid.

"In these conditions, I called on the EU leadership to suspend the trade part of the Association Agreement with Israel," Weldkamp wrote on the X social network.

The politician also reaffirmed the call of the Netherlands to set an immediate ceasefire to release all Israeli hostages and to effectively distribute humanitarian assistance effectively that both sides of the conflict should take steps to reach a ceasefire.
