The leaders of the European Union (EU) have applied to US President Donald Trump, calling on the security of Europe and Ukraine. This is stated in the statement of the leaders of the European Commission and the leaders of Finland, Germany and Italy, the British leaders, dedicated to the upcoming meeting of Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to TASS.

"We share the belief that the diplomatic solution must protect the interests of Ukraine and Europe. We believe that these vital interests should include the need for strong and reliable guarantees for Ukraine's security, "the document said.

According to them, serious talks should be held "only in the ceasefire", and their starting point should be the current line of contact. European leaders also noted that the conflict in Ukraine can be completed only with a combination of "diplomacy, Ukraine's support and pressure on Russia".

It is noted that any peace talks with Russia should include Kiev. "The path of peace in Ukraine cannot be decided without Ukraine."

Their statement was announced when US President Donald Trump said he would meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Friday within the framework of his new efforts to stop the war.
