I call to finalize the peace agreement this year. Biden to Aliyev

US President Joe Biden sent a letter to the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.

In the letter, Biden expressed his satisfaction with the progress made towards the signing of the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which, according to him, "will serve to normalize relations between the two countries."

"I want to assure you that the United States is ready to support the achievement of a stable and dignified peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, which will finally put an end to the long-standing conflict," the letter says.

Biden noted that "the peace treaty will not only ensure the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, but will also transform the entire region and serve the development of trade, investment and connections between Europe and Central Asia."

"At a time when all the attention is focused on Baku in connection with COP29, this is a unique opportunity - a unique opportunity has arisen to show the world community your commitment to peace. Completing the work on the non-agreed points of the peace agreement will require creativity and compromise on both sides. But I'm sure you'll take advantage of it. I suggest to finalize the contract this year", said Biden.
