Scientists have linked to skin inflammation and kidney disease

Scientists from the Taiwan National Defense Medical Center have found a connection between the atopic dermatitis and the high risk of a chronic renal disease. The results were published in JDERMA magazine.

The study was based on data from Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Base. More than 15,000 people with an atopic dermatitis and about 60,000 people without this diagnosis.

Atopic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory disease, which is manifested in the skin of the skin, strongly itched and rash. It usually occurs in childhood and can be maintained throughout life.

It turned out that people with dermatitis have significantly increased the risk of developing a chronic renal disease. Moreover, this connection has been maintained regardless of sex and age. It was also mentioned that how often the person applies to the doctor's skin problems, the higher the risk of kidney problems.

The authors believe that the cause may be hidden in chronic inflammation of the dermatitis. It probably affects not only skin but also on the internal organs. However, the exact mechanism is not yet clear, and further research will be needed to confirm this version.
