Benchmark oil prices rose modestly on Friday morning after their first gain in five sessions the previous day.

The price of December Brent futures on London's ICE Futures exchange is $74.75 per barrel, which is $0.3 (0.4%) higher than the previous closing price. Those contracts rose $0.23 (0.3%) to $74.45 a barrel on Thursday.

WTI oil November futures on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) rose by $0.36 (0.51%) to $71.03 per barrel in electronic trading. At the end of the last session, the futures price increased by $0.28 (0.4%) to $70.67 per barrel.
