Volvo will reduce 3,000 jobs with cost reduction program

Swedish Volvo Cars has announced that 3,000 jobs will reduce office workers, as part of the cost reduction program. Last month, the company announced that it would reduce the costs of about $ 1.9 billion, in response to the decline and uncertainty of electric cars, which arose with commercial customs duties.

The reductions will mainly affect Sweden office staff, making up about 15% of global office staff. Volvo's management has announced that they aim to improve cash flows and to reduce costs, stressing the difficult state of the automobile industry.

At the same time, US President Trump has threatened to set 50% customs duties on goods imported from the European Union, but in recent days that date has been moved to July 9 for negotiations. Volvo's management notes that high customs duties can prevent some models, including the import of Ex30 electric car produced in Belgium.
