BRICS countries should play a leading role in promoting peace and development in the international arena.
The statement came from Chinese Foreign Minister Van during the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the BRICS countries in Rio de Janeiro.
"Briks countries, playing as a positive and constructive force in the international arena, should play a leading role and become a base for peace and development," the minister's words are quoted on the website of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
According to him, the international situation has changed deeply, the world has entered the tremors, and the work of peace and development is facing new and serious challenges.
