Is it possible to expect a serious breakthrough? "Fact"

"Fact" daily writes:

The war in Ukraine has been going on for more than two years. Although Russia is making slow progress in a number of directions, announcing that one or another settlement in Eastern Ukraine has come under its control, the end of the war is still not foreseen. Nevertheless, there is some activity in the diplomatic field. President of Ukraine Zelinsky made the "Victory Plan" of Ukraine and decided to present it to Western countries and get their support. Accordingly, he initiated meetings with the leaders of France, Italy, Great Britain, and Germany in European capitals and expects them to support the plan he presented. And within the framework of the "Ramstein" summit in Berlin, which was to be headed by US President Joe Biden, there was supposed to be the first meeting of the group of countries supplying arms to Ukraine at the highest level. visit to Germany. The specific details of Zelinsky's plan are not yet known, but the position of the Ukrainian side shows that Zelinsky does not want to make any concessions to the Russian side on the negotiating platform, presenting it as defeatism, but formulates his maximalist demands in the context that all territories under the control of the Russian side must will be returned. He demands a promise of quick EU membership from European countries, and security guarantees from the US, according to reports. Apart from that, Ukraine first of all expects NATO membership. And from a military point of view, Ukraine's vision is to allow the West to strike deep into Russian territory with Western long-range weapons, but the US and European allies still do not allow it, fearing the expansion of military escalation, as well as the prospect of a nuclear war.

It is no coincidence that while the United States continues to discuss the possibilities of striking Russia with long-range Western weapons, Russia decided to change its nuclear doctrine. Moscow is now authorized to use nuclear weapons even in the event of conventional, non-nuclear aggression against Russia. As can be seen from the statements coming from the Western capitals, the West does not promise to provide guarantees to Ukraine in terms of membership in the Western structures, but the Western countries continue to make promises of arms supply. It's no secret that the USA is the main supplier of weapons, and if suddenly there is no help from Washington, then Ukraine will hardly be able to withstand the pressure of the front for a long time. European countries are already discussing whether they will be able to provide the necessary supplies to Ukraine without the United States. Dramatic changes in the position of the United States may occur, especially if former President Donald Trump wins the presidential elections in November. Especially within the framework of the Republican Party, there have been complaints for a long time regarding the volumes of aid supplied to Ukraine, when these amounts could have been invested inside the United States. And Trump is in favor of stopping the war in general, taking into account that if he is elected, it will increase his reputation even more. He promised that he can stop the war in one day, which implies that in that case, the USA will put pressure on Ukraine. And, in general, the Western countries are trying to urge Ukraine to give up its supremacy. It is clear that taking into account its interests, the West does not want the defeat of Ukraine, and on the other hand, the same West is not interested in Russia suffering a heavy defeat, which may cause further instability and upheavals. As for Russia's position, Moscow puts forward specific demands for ending the war and working on the settlement of the issue on the negotiation table. And more than once, Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that the war will stop as soon as the Western countries stop supplying weapons. But, it seems, the West is still not completely ready to stop the aid to Ukraine. In short, as many experts point out, there is no need to expect a major breakthrough in the current war in Ukraine. And the parties are preparing that the war will be prolonged. ARTHUR KARAPETYAN
