On Monday, the Moldovan Constitutional Court upheld the request of the Prosecutor General's Office and deprived Gagauzia the right to appoint the Authority of the Republic, head of the Republic Constitutional Court Domnika Manolen.
Earlier, George Leonchu, Vagauz People's Assembly Visitor, stated that the Constitutional Court discusses the issue of restricting the powers of the Gagausian prosecutor without autonomous representatives. The initiative to review the legislation was presented by Moldova's Prosecutor General Ion Munteyne.
"The Constitutional Court has decided to meet the request of the Prosecutor General's Office to unconstitutional Article 21 of the Law on the Special Legal Status of Gagauzia, as well as Article 3 of the Prosecutor's Office (Part 3) and Article 26.
The decision is finalized and enters into force after the publication in the "official monitor".
